The Blackpool Guard is a mercenary outfit that often hires itself out to the Kingdom of Yngoldis. The Blackpool Guard is a mercenary outfit based in Yngoldis and is seen as a power for law and order by those who hire its services. The organization is led by Madoon Herzog, who selects the assignments the Guard takes and prioritizes making a profit for himself and his soldiers. The Guard's ultimate goal is to have a commander posted in every court throughout Elwindil.

Membership in the Blackpool Guard is open to anyone who is skilled in combat and willing to join, and officers positions can be purchased by members who have demonstrated mastery over men and martial skills. Influence with the Guard is limited, with PCs needing to be full members to reach Rank 1 and making a mark during a campaign to reach Rank 2. The PCs can gain benefits from the Guard based on their influence rank, with higher ranks providing access to more benefits.

The commander of the Blackpool Guard - Madoon Herzog - picks and chooses which assignments to take. Their primary rule: Make a profit for him and his soldiers.

Values: The Legend Guild sees itself as a power for Law and Order for the highest bidder. They will enforce whatever laws and run their charges in whichever way laid out for them by the organization hiring them. They will often take advantage of the situation to personally profit, as well.

Public Goals: Be the first name for security for Kings and Courts throughout the Kingdom of Yngoldis, and someday perhaps all of Elwindil.

Private Goals: Have a commander posted in every court throughout the land that can guide actions and money into their coffers.

Membership Requirements

Any warrior, fighter, cleric, or otherwise skilled person who can handle the work can join. They will join the ranks as a private and work their way up from there. Officer positions are all for sale, but the person applying to be an officer must have shown mastery over men and martial skills of war.

Influence Limitations

PCs must be full members to reach Rank 1. To reach Rank 2, the PC must make a mark during a campaign either in increasing the profit to the guard or increasing the power they exert.

Benefit(s)

This section lists favors that the PCs can call in based on their influence rank with the organization. The PCs can always choose benefits on the available list for their current rank or a lower rank within the organization, and, at the GM’s discretion, the PCs might be able to access the benefits for lower ranks for a decreased number of favors, or even for free, if the PCs request the benefit a reasonable number of times. To approximate the benefits that the PCs can gain from an organization outside of its base of operations, the GM should decrease the PCs’ effective influence rank appropriately, to a minimum of Rank 0 if the PCs are entirely beyond the organization’s reach.
